A simple tool for physical security testing
I developed this range of tactical doorstops through my own experiences conducting authorised physical security assessments.
Over the years, I found myself repeatedly encountering situations where improvised solutions were used to influence how doors behaved during testing. Like many testers, I used whatever was available at the time. Sometimes these methods worked perfectly. Other times they proved unreliable, inconsistent or simply unsuitable for the task.
That led me to a simple question: if these techniques are used so often, why not create purpose-built tools designed specifically for the job?
What began as an attempt to solve a single problem evolved into a growing range of tactical doorstops, each developed to address different scenarios encountered during authorised physical security testing, training and research.
Every product in the range is based on real-world experience and practical lessons learned in the field. My aim has always been to create tools that are simple, discreet, practical and easy to carry, while offering a more consistent alternative to improvised methods. Most are designed to be low cost and semi-disposable, making them practical to deploy while remaining economical to replace when necessary.
This range continues to evolve as I encounter new challenges, develop new ideas and refine existing designs through use in real testing environments.
The Concept
The tactical doorstop range takes advantage of something simple: complacency.
Many doors are perceived as secure simply because they close automatically. Once a door shuts, people often assume it has secured correctly and rarely verify that it has fully latched or locked.
The products in this range are designed around that behaviour.
Each tool addresses a different physical security challenge, but they share a common goal: influencing how a door behaves in a way that can support authorised testing activities. Some are designed to prevent a door from fully securing, while others address different scenarios encountered during physical security assessments.
These tools are particularly effective on the types of doors commonly encountered within commercial and corporate environments, including:
- Internal offices
- Store rooms
- Plant rooms
- Communications rooms
- Server rooms
- Staff-only areas
- Access-controlled internal doors
Depending on the product and deployment scenario, they may be effective against doors protected by maglocks, auto-locking mechanisms and other systems that rely on the door reaching a fully closed position to secure the space.
Like all tools in the range, they are intended solely for authorised physical security testing, training and research activities.

FIT'D (Frame Insert Tactical Doorstop)
Once installed within the door frame, FIT'D remains discreetly in place until the door is opened. Its spring-loaded design then creates a small obstruction that prevents the door from fully securing when it closes.
To casual observation, the door appears closed as normal. However, the locking mechanism is unable to fully engage, allowing authorised re-entry without requiring the door to be opened again from the secured side.
Small, lightweight and semi-disposable, FIT'D was developed as a purpose-built alternative to the improvised methods commonly used during physical security assessments.
Various colours available to suit different door and frame colours.

LIFT'D (Lifts Into Frame Tactical Doorstop)
Developed for situations where traditional frame-mounted solutions may not be suitable, LIFT'D is intended for doors with narrow frame headers, sloping frames or other architectural features that can make other deployment methods impractical.
The device attaches directly to the door and is designed to influence how the door closes, preventing the locking mechanism from fully securing under the right conditions.
Compact, lightweight and semi-disposable, LIFT'D was created to solve a specific problem frequently encountered in the field while remaining practical enough to carry as part of an everyday testing kit.
